Transforming lives at Yemin Orde Youth Village

At Yemin Orde — birthplace of the Village Way methodology — at-risk Jewish youth from around the world find the home, school and safe haven necessary to thrive and find their place in the world.

Berta is a Yemin Orde graduate who came to Israel alone and directionless after the death of her father. Listen to her touching story and hear how far she’s come since arriving at the Village just a few years ago.

ACROSS ALL OF ISRAEL

Village Way Educational Initiatives (VWEI) brings the methodology developed at Yemin Orde to communities across every sector of society — Jewish and Arab, religious and secular, native-born and immigrants.

At a VWEI partner school in Beer Sheva, students engage in an experiential exercise called Journey Within. Developed in conjunction with the VIllage Way Educational Initiatives, this emplores the at-risk youth in this school to better understand their past, and have goals and a plan for their future.

More United IDF

CREATING A

Most Israelis enter the army at age 18, so the IDF plays an integral role in molding society. That’s why VWEI trains the security forces to better integrate minorities and at-risk youth. This encourages commanders to think like educators and fosters a sense of belonging among the ranks.

Village Way staff member Daniel explains how he facilitates the work between the IDF and Village Way Educational Initiatives.

Next Generation of Educators

TRAINING THE

It’s not just students who learn and grow within the Village Way movement, but the educators themselves. VWEI provides training, tools, and guidance to current and future educational leaders — paving the way for a brighter future in Israel.

These two VWEI partner school principals explain how their use of the Village Way has improved the lives of their students and their hopes for the future.
