Finishing Touches to New Entrance Mural
The colorful mural that graces the new entrance to the Village is now complete! The mural’s final wall was installed signifying the finish of the year-long project.
The colorful mosaic and hand-painted mural represents significant landmarks in the Village. Yemin Orde’s teens and youth volunteers all pitched in throughout the year to complete the mosaic.

Yemin Orde’s new entrance is part of a completed five-year rebuilding project resulting from a devastating wildfire that tore through the Village in December 2010. All children and families were safely evacuated before the fire reached the Village, but 40 percent of Yemin Orde was destroyed or badly damaged. The rebuilding project included the new entrance and a new perimeter road circling the Village in order to make central areas safer for pedestrians.
Art as Therapy
Thanks to our generous supporters, Yemin Orde is able to provide a therapeutic art program that allows our at-risk youth to express themselves in creative ways. The Village offers extra-curricular art classes in painting, drawing, ceramics and photography. Additionally, there are dance and music therapy programs that provide learning opportunities for teamwork, self-confidence and self-expression.
